Desktop

Sitting with a cup of coffee on the edge of my bed, I look out the window at the azure sky. In these trying times, all of us are looking for our own ways of comfort, a little something that will bring us hope, satisfaction and joy.

As my half-eaten slice of chocolate cake rests untouched on the coffee table, I turn on my laptop and explore the folders for that one movie that might put my uneasy mind at rest. Sometimes, it is possible to gain comfort and happiness from the things we watch. As my search continued, I stumbled upon many. So I ended up making a list of feel-good movies that might cheer us up during these difficult times.

10 Things I Hate About You

If you are a fan of romantic comedies, this should be at the top of your list. A classic teenage rom-com, 10 Things I Hate About You  has a delightful way of portraying high-school romance. With stars such as Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the movie tells the story of two sisters (Bianca and Kate) whose overbearing father forbids them to date. In order to get around the situation, Bianca hatches a plan to hire someone to take her feminist elder sister out. If that works out, then there’s a chance for her to date. Based loosely on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, the plot unfolds beautifully and might even make you spill a few tears of joy in the end.

Me Before You

The book or the movie? This is a question that has bemused us all for a long time now. Well, for me its mostly the book, unless its one of those rare occasions when the movie’s as good. In this case it is. A beautiful movie that portrays an unlikely love story between a caregiver (Emilia Clarke) and a handsome wheelchair-bound young banker (Sam Claflin) who has lost his interest to live, Me Before You  has delighted many. Inspiring and light-hearted, the movie shows the other side of hope and sorrow.

Forrest Gump

So much has been said about this movie that there’s hardly much left to say. All I can tell is, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get!” That is probably what the central character Forrest had to say. Moving and inspiring, this movie makes you think that a lot of things is possible in life if you work hard and just believe.

Five Feet Apart

This 2019 movie can capture your heart. With Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson as the leads, Five Feet Apart  tells the story of a pair of teenagers with cystic fibrosis who meet in a hospital and fall in love. There is a hitch though, they have to avoid physical contact with each other. With beautiful tracks and great performances, the movie will capture your heart through its portrayal of life, love and positivity.
